ZombieSmack
Why We Picked ZombieSmack
ZombieSmack gives you the board, the pieces and no clock, which sounds restful until half the space is gone. There is no clock in most of these games, so the pressure is spatial: a corner you cannot use, a piece that will not fit. The difficulty is spatial rather than mechanical, which is the harder kind to fake. Its 14.9K plays are spread thin across the month, which is what a good break-time game looks like. By the numbers: 4.4 out of 5 from 596 ratings, and 37 of 172 on the puzzle shelf.
How to Play
What you actually do, in order:
- Everything responds to a tap, which is the only input the game asks you to learn.
- Finish the board in front of you; nothing in it is timed unless the game puts a clock on screen.
- Look for the clear that sets up a second clear, not the biggest one available.
Editor’s Note
Sound off is fine; nothing here depends on audio cues. It rewards looking at the board for ten seconds before the first move, which few browser puzzles do.

ZombieSmack is a fast, satisfying smashing game in which the world has been overrun by a zombie virus and you are the last line of defense. Zombie mobs keep popping up in front of you, and survival comes down to one simple skill: smashing every zombie before it gets the chance to cause trouble.
The gameplay follows the beloved whack-a-mole formula with an undead twist. Zombies emerge from their hiding spots, linger for a moment, and then slip away or advance on you. Tap or click each one as it appears to smash it back down. That is the entire control scheme, which means anyone can pick it up instantly, but keeping up once the mobs come thick and fast is a different story entirely.
The difficulty ramps up as you survive longer. Early waves give you plenty of time to react, with zombies appearing one or two at a time. Push further and the pace quickens: multiple zombies surface together, their windows on screen shrink, and your eyes have to scan the whole board at once. One missed zombie too many and your defense crumbles, so every round becomes a test of both reflexes and attention.
A few habits will keep you alive longer. Keep your cursor or finger near the center of the play area so no spot is far away, watch the edges of the screen where new zombies tend to catch you off guard, and prioritize the zombies that appeared first, since they are closest to escaping or attacking. Quick, decisive taps beat hesitant double-checking every time.
ZombieSmack is a great fit for players who love reaction games, zombie themes, or short arcade sessions that are easy to start and hard to put down. It runs free in the browser on desktop and mobile, so a quick smashing spree is always available.
