Why We Picked Mr Jone
The route through Mr Jone is the game: collecting what the level asks for while staying out of trouble, with checkpoints close enough that a mistake costs seconds. It is generous with retries and stingy with hints, which is the better combination at this length. Small in scope, careful in layout, and over well before it overstays. It has been opened 674 times, and the retry button has probably seen more. On the record: 4.8 out of 5 from 23 ratings, and 145 of 183 on the adventure shelf.
How to Play
Three rules cover almost everything this game asks of you:
- Arrow keys move you and nothing else needs mapping.
- Pick up everything the level asks for and leave the rest alone.
- Check the walls for passages before deciding a room is finished.
Editor’s Note
Progress rarely saves, so plan to finish a level in a single sitting. The shelf is built for short sessions, which is why the games here tend to open on a level rather than a menu.
