Match Monster

Why We Picked Match Monster

Match Monster gives you the board, the pieces and no clock, which sounds restful until half the space is gone. The interesting decision is usually the dull one — leaving room you do not need yet. It asks for patience and pays it back in small, visible increments. It has been played 1,236 times here — modest beside the arcade titles, and about right for a puzzle. By the numbers: 351 of 500 on the arcade shelf, and 3.8 out of 5 from 25 ratings.

How to Play

The page documents very little, so these are the things worth knowing before you spend time on it:

• Check the frame's own mute and pause buttons before assuming the page has frozen.
• Finish the board in front of you; nothing in it is timed unless the game puts a clock on screen.
• If a placement feels forced, back out and try the other side of the board.

Editor’s Note

Session length is yours to choose; leaving mid-board usually costs you the board and nothing else. The shelf is large, which is why it holds both a bare rule and the same rule dressed in better art.
